Why I’m Running: I have chosen to run with the Urban Justice Center because they advocate for social justice, a cause that has become increasingly more relevant over the past year but is something that I have felt passionately about for much longer. Their goal is to defend rights, build an inclusive community, and fuel systematic change. While no amount of money or awareness will be enough to change the systemic issues present in our culture, I plan to run and raise to bring us closer to bridging this gap. SUPPORT OUR RUN!

Why I’m Running: I am running with Urban Justice Center because I believe legal assistance should be available to everyone, including the most vulnerable. I appreciate UJC’s multi-prong approach to tackling social injustice, and am proud to support its innovative legal projects. SUPPORT OUR RUN!

Why I’m running: This pandemic showed us how poverty can destroy human lives, including our families & communities in the U.S. As a 3-decade long Community Outreach worker in Chicago, I see how crucial community agencies like the Urban Justice Center are in the fight to end homelessness, to defend human rights, to provide a safe haven for persecuted refugees, to empower individuals recover from poverty, gentrification, trauma & addiction. Organizations like the Urban Justice Center provide a voice to seek justice for the most marginalized members of our society. No donation is too small. SUPPORT OUR RUN!

Why I’m Running: Resilience and perseverance, traits I find central to marathon training, are at the very core of the Urban Justice Center’s (UJC) work. The UJC fights for everyone who calls this city home, which has enabled New York to remain resilient and hopeful throughout countless hardships. I run with the UCJ because I believe in the strength of the city, and the community-centered society UCJ envisions and defends. SUPPORT OUR RUN!

Why I’m running: Urban Justice Center’s mission, of advocating for the most vulnerable and needy New Yorkers, resonates with me. Why I’m Running: I love NYC. And every moment I spend living and loving NYC, I am reminded of how wonderful it is and how much more needs to be done for all of its residents to have equitable opportunities. There is such a stark juxtaposition of rich and poor, secure and vulnerable, access and injustice. It falls unduly on local community-based organizations like UJC to work tirelessly to address these longstanding issues.
