Howard Sontag is the Founder, CEO and Senior Managing Director of Sontag Advisory, LLC, an independent, fee based wealth management firm in New York City. Before founding Sontag Advisory in 1995, Howard spent thirteen years at Lazard Fréres & Co. He served initially as head of both the tax department and benefits group and then, beginning in 1991, as a senior executive in the private client group within Lazard's asset management group. Howard began his career in the tax department of a major accounting firm and then held corporate tax positions at two Fortune 500 companies with duties that included dealing with a wide array of tax issues, benefits programs and executive compensation. He then moved to a national benefits consulting firm where he led the 401(k) team and advised Lazard and other large corporations on benefits related issues.
Howard is a graduate of St. John's University and the St. John's University Law School and received a Masters of Law in Taxation from the New York University Law School. He is an active member of the community and serves on the Board of Directors of the St. John's Law School Alumni Association.
