The Street Vendor Project (SVP) of the Urban Justice Center is looking for a bright, creative, self-starter to work with us up to 2 days per week for the next 18-24 months to help us conceptualize, plan, and launch an individual giving program.
This person will help us establish the systems, culture, practices, and communications we need to be able to build and retain a strong base of individual donors who are knowledgeable about and involved in the work of SVP, and who are making regular financial contributions to the organization.
We already have a steady street of income from vendor membership dues, and so expect that the initial focus of this program will be non-vendors who are likely to be supportive of our work, including: 1) people who attend the annual Vendy Awards; 2) people who attend the annual Great Street Meet community gala; 3) people who have volunteered for SVP and/or taken part in our activities; and 4) our Advisory Board members and their networks.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in individual giving, ideally at a grassroots economic justice organization. S/he should also be excited about joining a dynamic, innovative organization with a significant amount of work flexibility and a collaborative approach. A high level of knowledge and enthusiasm about street vending would be a very strong plus.
We are open to the possibility of this becoming a permanent Manager of Individual Giving position after the initial start-up period, funding permitting. If you are interested in helping us launch this new program, please send a cover letter and a resume to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please put “Individual Giving” in the subject line. We look forward to hearing from you! Please visit www.streetvendor.org for more information about our work.
