This page is a list of important actions you can take RIGHT NOW to help marginalized people and vulnerable communities facing the COVID-19 crisis. If you are looking for information related to the crisis in New York City, please click here.

From Our Safety Net Project:

Homeless New Yorkers are in extreme danger because they lack basic necessities – yet the Department of Homeless Services forbids outreach workers from providing give these life-saving items to people living in the streets. During a health crisis, maintaining this policy is particularly cruel. Please sign our petition calling for DHS to end this needless cruelty.

From Our Street Vendor Project:

Street vendors are in urgent need of community support – revenues are down 80% since last week, leaving many families in dire need. We’re calling on the Mayor to place a moratorium on payment of fines and enforcement against vendors until the pandemic passes and we are able to work again. Please follow and share our message on twitter.

From Our AsylumConnect Project:

Want to make a meaningful difference from home? Join our *remote* team to help build the world’s first digital resource platform for LGBTQ asylum. We need volunteers + summer interns in social services outreach, marketing & more! Apply now to join our team.

In addition to volunteering remotely, those who want to support our work are encouraged to use our new COVID-19 outreach initiative sharing toolkit to help spread the word about AsylumConnect.

Please help us by amplifying our message on social media. Follow us on twitter (@MHPUJC), Instagram (@MentalHealthProjectUJC), and Facebook (@MHPUJC).
