Please join the Treatment Not Jail coalition on TuesdayMay 7, 2024 at our May Advocacy Day as we make a full court press to get TNJ PASSED THIS SESSION. We will host a rally, hold meetings with elected officials, mobilize our champions, and more.
Through an expansion and modernization of already established treatment courts, the TNJ Act (S.1976B-Ramos / A.1263B-Forrest) will provide meaningful off-ramps from the revolving door of incarceration for thousands of individuals in the criminal legal system that suffer from underlying mental health and substance use issues.
Meals and transportation will be provided.

Conversations on Healing and Justice with the Mental Health Project

On Friday, May 10, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 310 East 42nd Street in midtown Manhattan, MHP will convene stakeholders to discuss the resources and policy changes needed to end the mass incarceration of people with mental health challenges. Building on our report Reimagining Paths to Health & Justice: Perspectives on Community Diversion, the panel discussions with policymakers, practitioners, and advocates, including individuals directly impacted by criminal legal and mental health systems, will explore prevention and diversion from the criminal legal system and consider the resources needed to support people with mental health concerns as they return to the community from jail and hospital.

Participants will have an opportunity to participate in the discussions and ask questions during a question-and-answer period. The event will include a light breakfast and networking lunch.
