IT Specialist – Operations Team

The Urban Justice Center serves New York City’s most vulnerable residents through a combination of direct legal service, systemic advocacy, community education and political organizing. We assist our clients on numerous levels, from one-on-one legal advice in soup kitchens, to helping individuals access housing and government assistance, to filing class action lawsuits to bring about systemic change. Summary:

We are looking for an IT Specialist to join the Operations team. This position will be supervised by the IT Manager. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• This position is an “in-person” full-time position, requiring the IT Specialist to be present at the main location, from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. The office is located at 40 Rector Street in the Financial District of New York City.
• Travel to other UJC locations is required some of the time, which would be done during the workday
• Provide in-person or remote assistance to users, primarily through incoming help-desk tickets and help requests
• Manage access to accounts including password resets and account creation
• Onboard new hires and interns, including setting up computers, coordinating equipment handoff, provisioning system access, and educating end users
• Fully document help-desk tickets, including resolution, escalation, and/or ongoing issues
• Maintain ‘in-office’ technology, including conference room audio-visual functionality and VOIP phones
• Assist users with video web-conferencing (Zoom, Teams)
Qualifications/Skills:
• The candidate should have at least one year of prior IT experience and be striving towards a career in IT. This is an entry-level position and a great opportunity to build a robust skill-set.
• The candidate must be detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and take the initiative to improve IT processes and workflow.
• Great communication skills, both verbal and written
• Critical thinking and ability to creative troubleshoot is a must
• Highly responsive to help requests and service issues
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and business functions
• Self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a diverse environment
• A+ and Network+ certifications
• Knowledge of Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Outlook/Exchange, Sharepoint, Azure Active Directory, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds

Compensation & Benefits:

The starting salary range for this position is $45,000 – $50,000 (based on experience), plus very generous UJC benefits including 401(k) match, and exceptional medical and dental insurance. You will receive 20 paid vacation days per year, 12 sick days per year, and 5 personal days per year, prorated for the year in which your employment begins and subject to the UJC’s policies as in effect from time to time. In addition to paid federal holidays, our offices currently close during the time between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
