The Street Vendor Project is celebrating the work of street vendors as community staples next month with a citywide game.

The NYC Street Vendor Scavenger Hunt will kick off with a gathering in Corona Plaza on Nov. 14, to invite participants to meet vendors, try new foods and win prizes.

More than 80 food vendors and merchants have already set up in the plaza, giving participants a chance to get a head start on their tasks and mark International Street Vendor Day. The organization is encouraging participants to learn more about familiar favorites — like Birria-Landia — or explore further.

Participants will have until Dec. 14 to complete “challenges,” like learning the ingredients of a halal cart’s white sauce or visiting a vendor in Staten Island, which will be catalogued in a mobile app.

Registration opens Oct. 21 and costs $25 for individuals or a team of up to five to compete in the family friendly activity.

Awards will be given out to participants for the most challenges completed and the most funds raised, which will support the efforts of SVP.
